Description of Pierre Bouillon's Museé des Antiques
These detailed engravings come from the work entitled Musée des Antiques drawn and engraved by Pierre Bouillon; descriptions are written by J. B. Saint-Victor. The three volumes of this work were published by Didot in Paris from 1810-1821. The busts, statues, and reliefs in this work feature numerous Roman Emperors and a few Greek and Roman gods, many of which are nudes. They are done with such a precise hand they seem to come alive on the paper which is woven and measures ~ 23 1/4" by 17 1/4".
