Charles Martin's Sports et Divertissements
These charming pochoir-colored illustrations are from Sports et Divertissments by Charles Martin (1884-1934). Published in Paris in 1919, they are on fine paper measuring 17" by 15".
Martin was a talented artist who studied at the Montpelier Ecole des Beaux Arts, Academie Julian and Ecole Des Beaux Arts in Paris. A talented illustrator and graphic artist, Martin contributed to a variety of French fashion journals. Composer Erik Satie collaborated with Martin by composing twenty short melodies to accompany the publication of these sophisticated drawings.
