Description of F. O. Morris's Nests and Eggs of British Birds
These chromolithographs are from the work entitled The Natural History of Nests and Eggs of British Birds by Rev. Francis Orpen Morris. Morris was a vicar with a great love of natural history. In the mid 1840s, Morris teamed with Benjamin Fawcett, one of the finest woodblock color printers of the 19th century, and artist A. F. Lydon. The three produced several works of natural history, including this one, originally published in 1856-1867. The prints for sale here are from various editions all from the mid to late 1800s. They are on heavy stock paper that measures 10" by 6 3/4".
