Raphael's Logge di Rafaele nel Vaticano

These exquisite copper engravings from Logge di Rafaele nel Vaticano was published in Rome in 1772-1777. The plates from the work depicted the decor and designs of Raphael for the Vatican circa 1518.

The work was drawn by Gaetano Savorelli and Pietro Camporesi. Savorelli was a painter and draughtsman best known for his depictions of Raphael's works. Camporesi was a Roman architect who created rooms for the Vatican Museum under Pope Clemens XIII and Pius VI.

The work was one of the first published showing the decor of the Logge on the main floor of the Vatican apartments. The work was probably planned in 1760 but not executed until 1772. The style of this work had a great influence on art at the time. The color and size make each plate a remarkable piece of art.
