Description of Lovell Augustus Reeve's Conchologia Systematica or Complete System of Conchology
These fine hand-colored engravings are from the work entitled Conchologia Systematica or Complete System of Conchology: In which the Lepades and Conchiferous Mollusca are described and classified according to their natural organization and habits authored by Lovell Augustus Reeve. Reeve found his passion of shells early in life and later became a noted conchologist, publisher, and bookseller. His immense knowledge of conchology secured him a Fellowship in the Linnean Society and it was this society that helped to publish this work in 1841. They are on fine woven paper that measures ~8" by 10 3/4".
