Heinrich Rudolf Schinz's Naturhistorische Abbildungen der Saeugethiere
These beautiful original hand colored lithographs come from the work entitled Naturhistorische Abbildungen der Saeugethiere (Natural History of Mammals) by Heinrich Rudolf Schinz. As a respected physician in Zurich, Schinz became a natural history professor at the University of Zurich. He produced a series of illustrated books featuring humans, birds, mammals, amphibians, and fish between 1824 and 1852 of which this work is a part. It was published in 1824 and lithographed by Karl Brodtmann, one of the most prominent lithographers of the time. They are printed on high quality woven paper that measures ~ 9 1/2" by 13 3/4".
