Description of Luigi Tettoni and F. Saladini's Teatro Araldico
These rare engravings are from the multi-volume work entitled Teatro Araldico, by Luigi Tettoni and F. Saladini, published in Milan from 1841-1850. They are a 'heraldic Theater that is a collection of general arms and signs of the most illustrious and noble lineages that existed a time and that still bloom in all of Italy.' These hand-colored engravings show the importance placed on heraldry in European history. This work is often listed among genealogical references and is held in high esteem for its accuracy. They are on fine woven paper that measures ~ 10 1/2" by 8".
