Christoph Jackob Trew's Plante Selectae
These prints come from Christoph Jakob Trew's Plantae Selectae, published in 1750 in Nuremberg. A scientific work, these prints represent precise, yet dramatic depictions of fruit and plant. Georg Dionysius Ehret, a well-known botanical artists, was commissioned by Trew to prepare the illustrations for this work while traveling through Holland, England, France, and Switzerland. They feature original hand-coloring on fine, water-marked, laid paper that measures ~ 19 1/2" by 12 3/4".
